If your fragrance fades by lunchtime, the fix is often in how you apply and store it, not in the bottle. Here are eight practical habits that help any scent stay with you longer.
1. Apply to moisturised skin
Fragrance clings better to hydrated skin than to dry skin. Use an unscented moisturiser or a body lotion that matches your scent, then spray.
2. Spray on pulse points
The wrists, the inside of the elbows, the sides of the neck and behind the ears are warm areas that help a scent develop and project.
3. Don't rub your wrists together
Rubbing can break down the top notes faster. Spray, then let it settle.
4. Spray from a distance
Hold the bottle about 15 to 20 cm from your skin so the mist spreads evenly instead of pooling.
5. Try a light mist on clothing or hair
Fabric and hair can hold scent well. Spray lightly from a distance, and check delicate fabrics first, as fragrance can mark some materials.
6. Layer matching scents
If you like a stronger presence, use a matching body product or spray a second, similar fragrance over the first.
7. Store it properly
Heat, light and humidity all age a fragrance. Keep the bottle in its box or in a cool drawer rather than on a sunny windowsill or in a steamy bathroom.
8. Choose the right style for the season
Heavier woody, vanilla and spicy scents tend to feel stronger and last longer in cooler weather, while fresh scents suit warmth. Explore our woody, vanilla and fresh collections.
